I like my job. I switched to a new location at the end of last year, and my commute increased from 7 to 17 miles each way. A new challenge, and I'm starting to meet it. But... the new job lately requires extra time at work, and to make my day fit together I've had to exchange a half-hour car ride for my hour-fifteen commute on the bike. I'll be glad once I get over this hump and I can get back to more normal hours so I can ride more. And blog more.

Hey man, when duty calls... it sucks. I hope you'll be riding more again soon. As for blogging, save up your good stuff and don't worry about it for now, or, ever.

A drunk sating "let it snow"?
That's been my situation the last 6 weeks or so also. Those weekend rides are precious!
There're two OBVIOUS solutions here - get a faster bike or a more powerful engine! The first solution only takes money, but it makes those old Schwinns seem all the slower. The second solution makes the first solution even faster yet.
To try that first solution, you can take a hint from today's captcha.

Normal? I work for the Union Pacific as a railroad engineer so every time I go to work it may be for several days and at any hour of the day. There is no normal hour that I go to work and when I do get to come home in the same day it is usually after twelve or so hours. There are challenges to everything so hang in there bud!
Big Oak: If I could get a weekend ride in, that would be great. As it is I had to work today as well. The most pressing thing I was working on has been turned in though. There will be edits and revisions, but it's off my desk for the moment. I have other things to do, but I hope they can be worked in a more sane manner.
I usually start later and finish much-later. So, I am okay with riding at later parts of the evening.
You will be (hopefully) done with the long hours soon and be riding again!
Peace :)
