On the mend

A week after pulling a muscle in my back, the bike is looking awfully tempting again. There is still a little pain but my flexibility and mobility have pretty much gotten back to normal. I know I could ride, but I'm trying to give it a couple more days to be sure. Having gotten quite attached to bicycle commuting, it's been torture being away. If I have no further setbacks, I might try riding Thursday or Friday. I hope to get some miles in over the holiday weekend.

Keep mending, and don't rush into big rides... sounds like you're doing it right.

Hey, if you need someone to ride your bikes around while you're healing so their lubricants stay well distributed, let me know. We wouldn't want the dears to get recalcitrant.

I find it great fun to ride other peoples' bikes. It's kind of like holding other peoples' babies - they poop in their diaper and you hand them back.

My bikes don't poop.

Glad to hear you are on the mend! No doubt the bike will be so happy to have you back!

I had to run an errand in the neighborhood and decided to take the Schwinn. It was a short ride, but glorious! Never have I so enjoyed a short ride. Now the temptation is to ride to work in the morning.

Don't do it! Two more days and then you can ride in next week after a couple of leisurely weekend rides to test out the old motor.

BTW, you've missed a week of GLORIOUS weather. I've been thinking of taking a detour into downtown Fort Worth just to enjoy the trip home a while longer. Mornings have been similarly wonderful. Even the motorists seem a little more cheerful than usual.

Just so you don't feel bad, however, keep in mind that it's just gonna keep getting even better until it starts getting TOO cold.

Yes... every morning I go, "D'OH!" when I think I could have ridden.

If my wife bugs out of the house before I do in the morning, I think I will ride. (She thinks I'm just as wussy as you do, Steve.)

Wow, in one comment series, we have poop, constipation, happy bikes, temptation, and wussiness. Rantwick was the only one who didn't get carried away.

Now THAT worries me...

That *is* rather troublesome, isn't it?!

So I didn't do it. I'm ready to commute at this point, though.

Well, my bikes poop sometimes. At least the Schwinn did before I pulled the crank set. Speaking of which (the Schwinn, not pooping), I need a ruling. I know you are wise and reasonable so I trust you implicitly.
I bought a chain breaker for the project. It's a tool so...does it go against the total?
Did I mention it's a tool? Not that I'd attempt to sway your faultless decision making in any way.
You're also handsome and a much better rider than I am.
