Happy Bike to Work Day

I wasn't going to make a big deal about Bike to Work Week this week, culminating in Bike to Work Day Friday, May 15, but it seems like all the cool kids are doing it so I better mention it too.

First of all, I have Friday off, so I'm not even biking to work, technically. (I did ride Monday, Tuesday and Thursday though.) Secondly, every day is Bike to Work Day for me except for when the weather sucks or I have a hectic schedule that makes time too tight to ride.

But I found out about a couple of events here in Fort Worth so I am getting a little enthusiasm going. As in, Food = Enthusiasm. From 6:00 to 9:00 am Friday, my favorite LBS (Local Bike Shop), The City Cyclist on McCart Avenue, is feeding cycle commuters free breakfast.

I also found this blurb on a local message board:
The T's president Dick Ruddell, and County Tax Assessor, Betsy Price will be cycling into work on Friday, May 15th to highlight Bike to Work Day in Fort Worth. You can join in on the ride and meet them at the Radio Shack building on Belknap and Taylor at 7:55am. All riders will then proceed to the ITC train station for coffee and donuts.
So my plan is this: If I can drag my butt out of bed early enough on my day off, I'll ride over to City Cyclist and have breakfast on them. I'll try to leave by 7 am to ride downtown from there (about a 10 mile ride) to meet up with the cycle commuting muckity mucks of Fort Worth. We'll see how that goes.

So, were the donuts good? Good speeches? Sleeping in also sounds smart. This demands a follow-up!
