A Perfect Day

I had Friday off and decided to keep it a car-free Friday even though I had several errands to run. So I set out through the neighborhood. The weather was perfect. No, really. PERFECT. It was perhaps 60 or 65 and almost no wind. I was able to ride in shorts and a short sleeve shirt. Tooling around on my single speed, I didn't even really break a sweat.

Happy Birthday, Larry!

One of the guys I ride with, Larry, celebrated his birthday this week with a birthday ride. He rode his age- 62 miles- and invited his cycling friends to ride with him. We met in the morning outside the T&P Tavern downtown.

My Bikes- The Daily Grind

I've done some modifications to my commuter bike, a 1994 Nishiki Sport XRS I call The Daily Grind. Granted, I haven't been commuting on the bike daily lately because I'm realizing I'm a weather wimp, but hey, that just gave me a chance to do some work on the bike.

I like the bike, but I've grown tired of the straight handlebar. Even with extensions, I just don't like the hand positions and riding position.
