You Ever Want to Rewind back to Summertime?

So I was in chilly Washington, DC, all week and came home to cold, wet conditions here in Texas. I realized this would be the perfect time to post the posts I never posted from last summer, when we were vacationing in upstate New York.

I took my bicycle with me and had a couple wonderful rides. One of them was with my wife's sister and her husband along Krumkill Road. We set out from their neighborhood at the edge of Albany. Right now in Texas, the dormant grass is a depressing shade of beige. Going back to summer in Albany, the greenery is stunning.

This is Kev. I found out on this ride that you never underestimate the lungs of a guy who plays sax.

We had a great ride through some awesome scenery- rolling hills of the Hudson River Valley. This is Krumkill Creek.

After crossing the creek, there was a steady climb up; we took a rest at the top. This is me...

...and Kev and Heidi.

This house used to belong to Mike Tyson.

The top of Krumkill Road.

Some nice scenery shots.

At the furthest point from home, the skies opened up and we were soaked. Heidi...

...Kevin...

...and me.

Luckily, the rain didn't last long. We steadily pedaled home after that, though, to beat any more rain that might arrive.

I got some good video going down to Krumkill Creek.

Almost home:

Just as we thought we would make it home without rain, the skies opened up again, soaking us as we rode the last half mile or so and pulled into the driveway.

A good 20 miles. :)

Wow. Look at the green! the short sleeves! the leaves!

It looks like you were moving pretty fast on that downhill.

They were drenched when they came in the house. To make it worse Kevin left his car windows opened and those of us that did not ride did not know so we did not close them for him.

That's pretty country. I like the videos - they bring the cycling to life. It seems like the downhills just aren't long enough, are they?

We rode up that hill earlier in the day; I thought it was plenty long enough then, and it was great going back down it toward the end of the ride.

That is one of my favorite routes to take! There are some pretty good hills on the ride. The house on the hill was owned by Mike Tyson in the 80's or early 90's.
Since today never hit above 20 degrees, it was a great day to look at these pictures.

Ah, yeah... Mike Tyson. I'll update the writeup.
